The Rhode Island State Council Newsletter Celebration of Marriage Article Written by: Jerry Scannell, FDD Providence, RI (10/04/2009) - As most people know, the divorce rate in this country is very high. Nearly 50% of all marriages end in divorce. With that in mind, it was very enlightening to see 217 couples celebrate special anniversaries (25, 40, 50, and Over 50 years) this past Sunday at the Cathedral of SS Peter & Paul. The Mass was con-celebrated by Bishop Tobin and several diocesan priests including our State Chaplain Fr. Parquette. Immediately after the sermon, all couples renewed their vows. The Knights of Columbus was very well represented at this wonderful Mass. Forty-two of the couples were Brother Knights and their wives. In order to give them true recognition of their accomplishment, I have listed them in the attachment.
