Worthy Brothers, We, as Catholics and Knights of Columbus, start the month of November remembering our dead. Initially, we honor all saints and pray for the souls of the faithfully departed. This is the month in which many councils celebrate Mass for all their deceased members -- those brothers that laid the foundation for the success of our councils.
On November 11, we, as Americans, remember all the men and women that have served and are serving in the armed forces of this great country that we may continue to live lifestyles the rest of the world envies. Let us show our appreciation for all that we have by practicing the first principle of our Order-Charity. There are many people in our own state that lack food, warm clothing, and shelter from the elements. I ask that all my Brother Knights make a special effort to help those in need. Many councils lack the resources to write checks from their treasury to assist the less fortunate, but a true act of charity comes not from the council, but by the individual members that comprise that council. If your council does not have the funds to write a check, take a collection from members at your next meeting and make a donation to help the needy. That is true charity.
At this time my wife, Janet, and I extend to you our best wishes for a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving.
Vivat Jesus,
Peter Lentini, State Advocate & Round Table Chairman
